The New York Eye Surgery Center is a modern, conveniently located facility dedicated to total eye care - from cataract and glaucoma surgery to diabetic retinopathy and refractive surgery. While New York Eye maintains state-of-the-art technology, our philosophy calls for an equal commitment to patient care. We strive to deliver high-quality eye care - with heart and compassion. New York Eye Surgery Center was founded in 1971 and is owned and operated by Dr. Jerome H. Levy. Dr. Levy is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. For over 30 years, he has remained on the leading edge of technology due to his participation with ongoing research projects, lectures, and continuing education programs. Dr. Levy is an experts in cataract removal and no-stitch surgery. He was among the first surgens to perform phacoemulsification, and has been performing and teaching the procedure for over 25 years. Joining Dr. Levy at New York Eye Surgery Center is a team of physicians and staff who are committed to providing patients with the best care possible. Dr. Akhilesh Singh and Dr. Brian Brazzo have been with us for many years and Dr. John Kim, Dr. Estela Ogiste and Dr. Mark Gordon have recently joined our staff. In addition to cataract surgery our doctors also perform perform Argon and Yag laser therapy. The Argon laser is used to treat glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and retinal disorders. The Yag laser is used primarily to open cloudy membranes that may develop within the eye. Refractive surgery is also a popular segment of the practice. Since 1983, our surgeons have been performing refractive surgical procedures.The most advanced refractive procedure is vision correction with the Excimer laser — LASIK surgery — which our surgeons have been performing since FDA approval in 1995.
