Jerome H. Levy, M.D.

Dr. Jerome Levy is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Syracuse University, where he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1966.

Dr. Levy completed an internship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and Kings County Hospital in 1967. He served as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital from 1968 to 1971, Coordinator of phacoemulsification Training from 1972 to 1975 and as Chief of the Laser Clinic from 1975 to 1990.

Dr. Levy has been an attending surgeon at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Greater New York for more than 25 years. He has been the author of numerous international articles and book chapters, given countless lectures, and was among the first physicians to introduce the Yag laser in the United States from Switzerland in 1982.

Dr. Levy’s specialized training includes phacoemulsification surgery with intraocular lens implantation, laser surgery, treatment of glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. He has performed thousands of refractive surgeries, including LASIK. In 1987, he co-founded the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Greater New York. Since that time he has served as Medical Director and attending surgeon there and Dr. Levy is now the sole owner of the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Greater New York.

The Ambulatory Surgery Center is a Medicare-certified same day surgery center licensed by New York State. Since 1990, it has earned the accreditation of the prestigious Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The Ambulatory Surgery Center is housed at the same location as New York Eye Surgery Center, and its highly trained professional staff utilizes the latest and most innovative equipment available.

As Founder and Surgeon Director of New York Eye Surgery Center since 1987, Dr. Levy and his associate physicians serve more than 20,000 patients each year. New York Eye’s physicians are renowned for the outstanding and personal attention they offer their patients.
